Fractional Laser Resurfacing

in Baltimore, MD

Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown use Matrix Fractional resurfacing to help rejuvenate the skin of patients in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Annapolis and the surrounding areas of Maryland.

What is Fractional Laser Resurfacing?

Matrix Fractional Laser Resurfacing is a method of resurfacing the skin using a fractional CO2 laser. CO2 lasers gently vaporize the outer layers of skin to reduce signs of aging and provide a brighter complexion. They also increase blood flow to superficial layers and stimulate new collagen formation. The result is younger looking skin and reduced imperfections, such as scars and enlarged pores.

Benefits of Fractional Laser Resurfacing

Some of the benefits you can enjoy with a laser resurfacing treatment include:

  • Safe, in-office procedure that takes around 30 minutes to an hour
  • Effective on a number of skin conditions
  • Many patients can achieve their desired results after only one to two sessions, avoiding the need for an extended series of treatments

Who is a Good Candidate for Fractional Laser Resurfacing?

Since Matrix Fractional Laser Resurfacing sessions are shorter and fewer treatments are generally needed, this procedure is ideal for anyone with a busy lifestyle. Many of our patients also choose Matrix over other “lunch hour” procedures because it provides results quickly, making it ideal for anyone who wishes to improve their appearance for an important event, such as a high school reunion.

How is Matrix Laser Treatment Performed?

After carefully cleansing your skin, topical anesthesia will then be applied to numb the area. In some cases, more extensive anesthesia may be recommended. Next, Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, or Dr. Brown will treat the recommended areas with the Matrix laser. Once the procedure is over, we will apply a light moisturizer to your skin. A bandage may also be used if our doctor has covered a very large treatment area.

Results of Matrix

There will be some scabbing and oozing immediately after the procedure, which can last for approximately 10 days. Our aestheticians will follow you closely during this period and assist you with the management of the affected areas. After these areas heal, there can be some residual redness that can last up to 6 weeks. Again, our aestheticians will assist you during this period, and the areas can be easily disguised with make-up.
