Facelift
in Baltimore, MD
At the Aesthetic Center at Woodholme, Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown perform facelifts for patients in Baltimore, Washington D.C., Annapolis, and the surrounding areas of Maryland. The face is one of the first areas to reveal signs of aging. Over the years, your skin can begin to weaken, and youthful facial volume begins to decrease. This results in unwanted facial lines, wrinkles, and sagging in the midface. With a facelift, the facial tissue is tightened, revealing a rejuvenated, younger appearance.

What is a Facelift?
A facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is typically used to give you a more youthful appearance by tightening any wrinkles or sagging skin on the FACE AND NECK. The facelift, technically known as a rhytidectomy, can reshape the lower one-third of your face by removing excess skin and tightening the underlying facial tissues and facial muscles. A facelift plastic surgery with Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown will lift and firm up sagging facial features to restore a more youthful appearance, effectively turning back the clock.
Causes to Get a Facelift
Among the many benefits of a facelift is the improvement of visible signs of aging in your face and neck such as:
- Sagging skin in the mid-face
- Deep creases below your lower eyelids
- Loss of elasticity and facial volume
- A jowly look
- Deep wrinkles and loose skin
One benefit of choosing the surgical facelift is the dramatic improvement you can achieve. Nonsurgical solutions are great for early signs of aging, but for more advanced aging and sagging, the facelift is highly effective and long-lasting. The facelift can also be combined with other treatments like BOTOXยฎ, FILLERS, facial fat transfer, and BROW LIFT for optimal results.
Who is a Good Candidate for a Facelift?
With a facelift from plastic surgeons Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown, you can age with beauty and confidence. You might be a good candidate for a facelift if you want to counteract the effects of time and gravity so that you can restore your youthful facial volume, redefine your facial features, and achieve overall facial rejuvenation. To be a successful candidate, you must be prepared for a surgical procedure and the recovery time that goes with it. If youโre ready to improve your confidence with a facelift, schedule your consultation in Baltimore to find out if you are a candidate.
How is the Facelift Performed?
Your facelift procedure will be performed with the use of general anesthesia for your comfort. Incisions are placed in natural lines where they are well-concealed. Through these incisions, the tissue will be tightened and excess skin is removed. Facelift procedures are designed to lift both the underlying musculature and the sagging skin. One change without the other will not provide a long-lasting result. The neck may require some liposuction and tightening of the muscles under the chin. Augmentation of the midface with a fat transfer can also be added to give back a rounded youthful appearance lost by facial thinning over time. A facelift can take between two to five hours to complete, depending on the extent of changes being made. Patients experience minimal discomfort during surgery and experience minimal scarring due to the inconspicuous incision points.
Recovery After Facelift
After your facelift procedure, you can expect 1-2 weeks of recovery and healing. During this time, you should plan to take work off so you can rest at home. You can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort during this time, but this can be managed with prescription pain medication and ice packs. Exercise will be restricted for about 3 weeks. It is important to follow your aftercare instructions and restrictions carefully to ensure proper healing. Swelling can linger for several months, but you can begin enjoying your new look after about a month. The results of a facelift with Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown are natural-looking and long-lasting.
