Our skilled Johns Hopkins trained surgeons Dr. Ira Papel, Dr. Theda Kontis, and Dr. Emile Brown offer a variety of dermal filler options such as Volbella® to patients in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Annapolis and the surrounding areas of Maryland.
So-called smoker’s lines can make the mouth appear pursed and can even cause fine lines and wrinkles to appear on and around the lips. Volbella addresses this issue by adding fullness and erasing fine lines and wrinkles near the mouth and lips. It contains a very thin formulation of hyaluronic acid, which disperses nicely to provide an even texture without any visible lumps or bulges. The injectable formula gives patients a nonsurgical solution to achieving smooth, enhanced lips.
- Safe, hyaluronic acid formula
- A subtle lip enhancement without surgery
- Smoothed out lip lines or “smoker’s lines” above the lips
You may be a good candidate for Volbella is you experience thinning lips due to age or naturally thin lips. Volbella can add instant volume for a subtle enhancement that lasts. Volbella can also be used to smooth vertical lip lines caused by aging or smoking. However, if you currently smoke tobacco products, you may not be a candidate for treatment.
Prior to treatment, the skin will be cleansed and a strong topical anesthetic may be applied to improve your comfort. Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, or Dr. Brown will then inject tiny amounts of product into the lines surrounding your mouth before placing any Volbella into the lips. We find this produces the most natural-looking results, and also minimizes swelling. The injection process can take about 10-20 minutes to complete.
There is no required downtime after treatment with Volbella, however, some swelling, bruising, and redness can be expected for a few hours after treatment. You will notice results immediately for smoothed lip lines and plumped lips. However, full benefits are normally seen within a few days as the hyaluronic acid bonds with water molecules underneath your skin. The results of Volbella can last for up to a year before a touch-up session is needed.
During your consultation, we will be glad to answer all of your questions, including those pertaining to specific techniques that might affect your cost. We will also help you determine the best method of payment based on your needs and budget. Many times, we are able to offer specials that help patients maximize their cosmetic procedure dollars. On other occasions, we may recommend financing through a major credit card or low-interest financing through CareCredit® or Prosper® Health Care Lending.
If you are anxious to look and feel your best, contact Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown today to schedule your Volbella® consultation. We proudly serve patients from Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Annapolis and the surrounding areas of Maryland.
