Juvéderm® Voluma
in Baltimore, MD
Juvederm Voluma™ is an FDA-approved injectable gel being offered by Johns Hopkins trained surgeons Dr. Ira Papel, Dr. Theda Kontis, and Dr. Emile Brown to smooth aging lines and add volume to the cheek area.
What is Juvéderm® Voluma?
Voluma is an injectable dermal filler that contains sterilized hyaluronic acid. It is designed to reduce severe facial wrinkles and folds in the mid and lower face as well as lift the cheeks. Voluma skin injection procedures offer a nonsurgical solution to addressing signs of aging with no incisions or downtime needed. With approval from the U.S. FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION, patients can feel safe having Juvéderm dermal fillers injected under their skin tissue by a qualified and experienced surgeon.
Benefits of Voluma
Patients like the benefits from Voluma HA dermal filler because hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that everyone has in their body, but that decreases as we age. Using dermal fillers with naturally occurring substances diminishes the number of severe allergic reactions accompanied with procedures.
Benefits include:
- Restored volume to the cheeks for a lifted appearance
- Added volume under the eyes
- Smoothed out facial lines and folds
Who is a Good Candidate for Voluma?
Those who have experienced facial volume loss with age or weight loss can benefit from hyaluronic acid fillers such as Voluma. Flattened and sagging cheeks are common concerns associated with aging, but many are not ready for a surgical procedure like a facelift. These patients can benefit from Voluma to restore volume and give the cheeks a subtle, lifted, non-surgical cheek augmentation. Juvederm Voluma XC facial injections can be used at the same time to fill in facial lines and folds in the mid and lower face caused by age related volume loss.
How is Juvéderm® Voluma Treatment Performed?
Prior to treatment with Voluma soft tissue fillers, the skin will be cleansed and prepped with a topical anesthetic to ensure a comfortable treatment process. Voluma will then be placed under the skin using a very fine needle. A small amount may be placed into several points in the mid and lower face to ensure even, balanced volume. The injection process can take about 10-20 minutes to complete.
Results of Voluma
There is no required downtime after treatment with Voluma and patients can get right back to their regular routine. Some mild swelling, bruising, and redness can be expected for the first few hours. Results of Voluma can be experienced right away for smoother skin and improved volume in the cheeks. These results can last for up to two years before a touch-up session is needed.
